AAMA Specifications
Houston Powder Coaters offers a wide variety of architectural finishes that meet or exceed AAMA’s (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) voluntary specifications for performance requirements and testing procedures. In particular, HPC offers a tremendous selection of colors from a large number of powder manufacturers that comply with AAMA 2603 and AAMA 2604.
AAMA 2603
AAMA 2603 requires that panels, after tested in Florida for one year, only incur slight cracking, fading, and chalking should occur to the coating. Although this specification has outdoor property allowances, it is typically for interior applications where color retention is not required. These standard polyester resin systems are suitable for residential and commercial applications such as ceiling supports / panels, interior doors, windows, handrails, and fixtures. Architects, building owners, and developers should determine which specification is required to ensure the optimal powder performance.
AAMA 2604
AAMA 2604 requires that panels, after tested in Florida for five years, must not have color change of more than 5 Delta E units, and there should be a minimum of 30% gloss retention. Furthermore, chalking must not be more than a number 8 rating (based on the ASTM 4214 test). This “super durable” polyester resin system is suitable for residential and commercial applications that experience high-traffic environments and highly exposed architectural elements. Balconies, handrails, fences, flagpoles, light poles, & exterior extrusions are well suited applications for this highly protective, high weather-ability formulation.

Standard turnaround time is five (5) business days. However, rush jobs are available for an additional cost and with prior approval.

Architectural Design
